The Sunday Food Festival and Family Fun Day
For many people, the climax of A Taste of West Cork Food Festival is the great open-air market, festival and fun-day - which takes place on the Sunday at the end of the Food Festival week.
For one day only, the Fairfield in the centre of Skibbereen is taken over by a host of stalls and marquees, showcasing the very best of local food and crafts, including a special section featuring the regular traders from the Skibbereen Farmers’ Market.
As an example of the quality you can expect, Woodcock Smokery from nearby Castletownshend has had tremendous successes in the annual Great Taste Awards in London.
These include: Great Taste Awards Supreme Champion 2006, Best Irish Speciality Award & Special Judges Commendation in 2009 and three specific awards for individual products in 2010 as well as a nomination for Best Irish Speciality.
There will, of course, be a children’s area, with bouncy castles, dance coaching and make and do, as well as science workshops, baking displays, face painting, wonky vegetable competition and much more. All musicians are also invited to bring their instruments for a major traditional Irish music session at 4 PM.
If you would like to trade at this year’s Food Festival please download, complete and return the appropriate form. Please note that the terms and conditions for traders have changed since 2010 so do read them carefully.
